Mushrooms are the third most valuable vegetable crop in Australia, after potatoes and tomatoes. Like any industry, poor design or management of facilities can lead to environmental impacts. To ensure the ongoing viability of their members, the Australian Mushroom Growers Association (AMGA) decided to develop an environmental code of practice for mushroom substrate production. FSA Environmental was commissioned to consult with all affected parties and to develop a code based on best management practices. The code identifies potential environmental impacts and provides practical and economic solutions.
