Justin is a Soil Scientist with experience in the areas of soil and land resource mapping, pedology, salinity assessment and GIS systems. Since working for FSA Consulting he has worked on various projects including the preparation of Land and Water Management Plan’s and the compiling of environmental and irrigation management plans (EMP/IMPs) for feedlots, piggeries, abattoirs and other industries. He has also undertaken soil description, classification and sampling for various industries according to standard protocols and licensing conditions.
After completing his Applied Science degree from Massey University in Palmerston North, New Zealand, Justin moved to the “deep” south and worked as a pedologist for the Topoclimate South project. This three-year project involved the soil mapping of over 800,000 hectares at a 1:50,000 scale.
He made the move to Queensland in 2001 to work on a joint NCEA and NR&M project "Working towards water use efficient irrigation management systems in the Queensland Murray- Darling Basin". The outcomes of the project were to provide a framework to review farmer's irrigation efficiency and sustainability and recommend improvements, which can be implemented via a Land and Water Management Plan.
